U.S.-led Coalition Launches Airstrikes on Yemen’s Capital Sanaa: Reports

The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported late Saturday night that warplanes from a U.S.-British coalition carried out three airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. The airstrikes targeted locations within the Houthi-controlled city, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.

Local residents reported hearing loud explosions and seeing plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas. Casualty figures have not been officially released, but initial reports suggest significant damage to infrastructure.

The U.S.-led coalition has not yet issued a statement regarding the airstrikes. The coalition has been involved in Yemen’s prolonged civil war, supporting the internationally recognized government against the Houthi rebels who seized control of Sanaa in 2014.

The conflict in Yemen has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions facing famine and disease. International observers have repeatedly called for a ceasefire and renewed negotiations to bring an end to the fighting.

This latest escalation raises concerns about the prospects for peace in the region. Analysts suggest that increased foreign involvement could further complicate efforts to reach a diplomatic solution.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with hopes that dialogue can prevent further civilian casualties and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
