Rwanda’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi, has highlighted the pivotal role China’s technology can play in accelerating Rwanda’s infrastructure development. In an interview with CGTN’s Michael Wang at the China International Import Expo, Sebahizi expressed optimism about the potential collaborations between Rwandan and Chinese enterprises.
“China’s advanced technology offers us an opportunity to leapfrog in our infrastructure projects,” Sebahizi stated. “The China International Import Expo provides a valuable platform for us to engage with local investors and explore avenues for mutual growth.”
Rwanda, known for its rapid economic growth and innovation-friendly environment, is seeking to modernize its infrastructure to support sustainable development. Sebahizi emphasized that partnering with Chinese tech firms could bring cutting-edge solutions to Rwanda’s transportation, energy, and telecommunications sectors.
The China International Import Expo, held in Shanghai, attracts businesses and government officials from around the globe. It serves as a hub for international trade dialogue and investment opportunities. This year’s expo focuses on fostering global economic cooperation amid shifting international dynamics.
“Engaging with Chinese investors allows us to share our vision for Rwanda’s future and identify technologies that align with our development goals,” Sebahizi added. “We are committed to building resilient infrastructure that benefits our people and strengthens our economy.”
The collaboration between Rwanda and China reflects a broader trend of African nations leveraging partnerships to drive innovation and infrastructure growth. As Rwanda continues to position itself as a regional hub for technology and entrepreneurship, such international engagements are key to realizing its ambitions.
