AmCham Shanghai Anticipates Over $400 Million in U.S.-China Trade Deals at CIIE

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) has seen a significant uptick in participation from American companies this year. The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) is making a strong appearance after its debut last year, anticipating over $400 million in trade deals during the event.

Allan Gabor, Chairman of AmCham Shanghai, highlighted the potential of the CIIE to enhance trade and agricultural cooperation between the United States and China. In an interview with CGTN’s Hou Jing, Gabor expressed optimism about the growing opportunities for U.S. businesses in China.

“The Expo serves as a vital platform for American companies to showcase their products and services to the Chinese market,” Gabor stated. “We appreciate the Shanghai government’s robust support in fostering bilateral trade growth.”

The increased participation of U.S. businesses at the CIIE reflects a mutual interest in strengthening economic ties. The anticipated $400 million in deals underscores the commitment of both nations to collaborate on trade and investment opportunities.

Gabor also emphasized the significance of agricultural cooperation, noting that it presents substantial benefits for both U.S. exporters and Chinese consumers. “Agriculture is a key area where we can expand our collaboration, ensuring food security and offering high-quality products to the market,” he said.

The American presence at the CIIE symbolizes a positive trend toward enhanced dialogue and partnership. As the Expo continues, expectations are high for further agreements that will contribute to the prosperity of both economies.
