Otis Unveils Modernization Plan Aligned with China\u0027s Urban Renewal Policies

Otis, the U.S.-based elevator company, has introduced a new modernization plan that echoes China\u0027s urban renewal policies, signaling its strong commitment to the Chinese market. Judy Marks, chair, CEO, and president of Otis, shared her excitement about the company\u0027s future in China during the China International Import Expo (CIIE).

As a returning participant at the CIIE, Marks expressed high expectations for this year\u0027s event. “We\u0027ve already launched multiple products,” she told CGTN on Wednesday at the expo. “We\u0027ve brought forward an entirely new product plan for modernization and refurbishment that will support the government\u0027s urban renewal policy.”

Over the past four and a half years, Otis has seen the number of units it services in China double. Marks highlighted the attractiveness of the Chinese market, noting, “It\u0027s an attractive market. The service market is growing, and the refurbishment and modernization market is just starting to take off.”

She emphasized that the expo provides an ideal platform for Otis to showcase new products and connect with customers, government officials, agents, and distributors—all in one place. “Being here allows us to better cover the Chinese market,” Marks added.

The company\u0027s new plan is expected to contribute significantly to China\u0027s urban development, aligning with the nation\u0027s goals for modernization and enhanced urban infrastructure.
