International companies eager to enter the Chinese market are flocking to Shanghai for the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), the nation’s largest import trade fair scheduled from November 5 to 10.
This global economic and trade event has become a hallmark of China’s commitment to opening up and international cooperation. Last year’s expo generated cumulative deals valued at $78.4 billion, marking a 6.7 percent increase year on year and reaching an all-time high.
This year’s CIIE is set to break previous records, welcoming 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions. The exhibition space spans over 360,000 square meters—equivalent to 50 standard soccer fields—highlighting the immense scale of the event.
Notably, 297 exhibitors are from Fortune Global 500 companies, marking a historic high and underscoring the global business community’s confidence in the Chinese market. Among all participants, 186 enterprises and institutions have been part of the expo for seven consecutive years, reflecting sustained interest and commitment.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the significance of the CIIE during his keynote speech at the opening ceremony on Monday. “Hosting the CIIE is an important aspect of China’s opening up and cooperation, representing China’s solemn commitment to the world,” he said.
The expo serves as a vital platform for international businesses to explore opportunities in the Chinese mainland, fostering economic exchange and mutual growth. As China continues to open its doors wider, events like the CIIE play a crucial role in connecting global markets and promoting shared prosperity.
