At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is set to embark on a state visit to China from November 8 to 10. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, highlighting the strengthening ties between the two nations.
President Xi will host a formal welcome ceremony for President Prabowo, followed by talks between the two heads of state. Additionally, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, are scheduled to meet with Prabowo, according to Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning during a daily press briefing.
“China and Indonesia are good neighbors facing each other across the sea and good partners sharing a common future,” Mao stated. “Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Indonesia relations have maintained a strong momentum of development, and the two countries have entered a new stage in building a community with a shared future.”
This visit marks President Prabowo’s second trip to China this year. His first visit came shortly after his election victory in March, and choosing China again as his destination after taking office underscores the significance he places on Sino-Indonesian relations. It demonstrates the high level of mutual trust and the commitment to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
Mao Ning expressed China’s readiness to work with Indonesia to “take this visit as an opportunity to consolidate high-level political mutual trust, deepen all-round strategic cooperation, and elevate the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future to new heights.” She added that this collaboration aims to inject strong impetus into both countries’ modernization processes and contribute to regional and global prosperity.
