President Xi Jinping met with Sam Hou Fai, the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), on Friday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
During the meeting, Premier Li Qiang presented Sam with a decree from the State Council, officially appointing him as the sixth-term Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, witnessed by President Xi.
President Xi congratulated Sam on his appointment, commending his steadfast dedication to the country and Macao. He acknowledged Sam’s significant contributions to Macao’s prosperity and stability during his tenure as the President of Macao’s Court of Final Appeal.
“In the election, you were nominated and elected by an overwhelming majority, which demonstrates the broad recognition and support from Macao society. The central authorities fully acknowledge this and have full trust in you,” President Xi stated.
Expressing his gratitude, Sam Hou Fai said it was a profound honor to be appointed as the sixth-term Chief Executive of the Macao SAR by the central government.
