China and UAE Mark 40 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Renewed Commitments

Marking a significant milestone, Chinese President Xi Jinping and United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan exchanged heartfelt congratulatory messages on Friday, celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between their nations.

President Xi highlighted the enduring friendship and trust between China and the UAE, emphasizing their role as good partners committed to win-win cooperation. “Over the past four decades, our countries have maintained sound and steady development,” Xi remarked. “We have strengthened political mutual trust, deepened the synergy of our development strategies, and achieved fruitful cooperation across various fields.”

Xi recalled the important consensus reached during President Mohamed’s state visit to China in May, noting that it has charted a clear course for the future of China-UAE relations. He expressed his readiness to work closely with President Mohamed to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights. “Let us take the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic ties as a new starting point,” Xi urged, “to contribute more to regional and world peace and stability while delivering greater benefits to our peoples.”

In response, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his sincerest congratulations and best wishes to President Xi. He expressed pride in the strong and historic relations between the UAE and China, and affirmed his commitment to advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of both nations. “We look forward to deepening cooperation in various fields,” Mohamed stated, “and pursuing new opportunities that serve the interests of our peoples.”

The exchange of messages also included Chinese Premier Li Qiang and the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Premier Li conveyed China’s willingness to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state and to continuously enrich the connotation of the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership. Sheikh Mohammed echoed these sentiments, expressing the UAE’s eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in diverse sectors.
