China Calls for Urgent Ceasefire Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions

The escalating tensions in the Middle East have prompted China to call for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. At a daily press briefing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized the urgent need for peace in the region.

“The recent series of events in the Middle East once again underscore the urgency of a ceasefire,” Lin Jian stated. “China opposes the infringement of other countries’ sovereignty and security, as well as the wanton use of force.”

Lin’s remarks came in response to questions regarding Israel’s strikes on Iranian military targets on October 26. The spokesperson highlighted the highly tense situation in the Middle East, urging all relevant parties to avoid further escalating security risks.

“The current situation is highly volatile,” he added. “All parties should exercise restraint and avoid actions that could worsen the overall security environment in the region.”

Lin Jian also called upon the international community to play a constructive role in easing tensions. “Major influential countries have a responsibility to contribute to peace and stability,” he said. “We should create the necessary conditions for de-escalation and support efforts towards a peaceful resolution.”
