DPRK Accuses South Korean Military of Drone Incursion Over Pyongyang

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has accused South Korea’s military of orchestrating a drone incursion into Pyongyang to scatter anti-DPRK leaflets, according to a report released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Monday.

The KCNA cited findings from a joint investigation conducted by officials from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of State Security, and other specialized institutions. The investigation analyzed flight plans and logs obtained from the flight control module of a crashed drone, leading to the conclusion that the drone originated from South Korea.

According to the KCNA report, the drone took off from Paekryong Island on the evening of October 8. It flew over Jangyon County in South Hwanghae Province, navigated the waters around Cho Islet and Namjoap Islet, then proceeded over Chollima District in Nampho Municipality, ultimately intruding into Pyongyang.

In the early hours of October 9, the drone reportedly scattered political leaflets in areas between the DPRK Foreign Ministry’s office and the Sungri metro station, as well as around the Ministry of National Defense’s office in the capital.
