Hezbollah Fires 80 Projectiles into Israel Following Israeli Strikes in Iran

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that Hezbollah fired approximately 80 projectiles from Lebanon into Israel. The barrage came just hours after Israel conducted air strikes targeting military facilities in Iran.

“As of 15:00 (12:00 GMT), approximately 80 projectiles that were fired by the Hezbollah terrorist organisation have crossed from Lebanon into Israel today,” the IDF stated.

The sudden escalation has heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns over a potential broader conflict. Residents in northern Israel reported hearing sirens and explosions as the projectiles landed in border areas. There have been no immediate reports of casualties.

Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant and political group, has not yet issued a statement regarding the attack. The exchange marks a significant increase in hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which have clashed sporadically since their last major conflict in 2006.

The Israeli air strikes in Iran targeted what the IDF described as military facilities, though details remain limited. The strikes represent a rare acknowledgement of Israeli military action within Iranian territory.

International observers are urging restraint from all parties to prevent further escalation. The United Nations has called for immediate de-escalation and a return to dialogue.

Both Israel and Hezbollah have fortified their positions along the border, and the situation remains highly volatile. The international community is watching closely as events unfold.
