China’s AG600 Amphibious Aircraft Completes Critical Unstick Speed Test

China’s AG600 large amphibious aircraft has successfully passed a critical airworthiness validation flight test of its minimum unstick speed, marking a significant milestone in its development. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), the nation’s leading aircraft manufacturer and the developer of the AG600, announced the achievement on Friday.

The test flight took place in Pucheng County, located in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The minimum unstick speed test is considered one of the most challenging and high-risk assessments for transport aircraft. It is essential in determining safe takeoff and landing speeds, ensuring the aircraft can safely become airborne under the minimum required conditions.

According to AVIC, the successful completion of this rigorous test lays a solid foundation for the AG600’s subsequent safety flight tests and its eventual airworthiness certification. This progress represents a significant step forward for China’s aviation industry, showcasing its advancing capabilities in developing large, specialized civil aircraft.

The AG600 amphibious aircraft family is China’s first independently developed, large-sized, special-purpose civil aircraft series. Designed to meet critical needs such as forest firefighting, maritime rescue, and other emergency services across the country, the aircraft’s ability to operate both on land and water makes it uniquely suited for rapid response in diverse environments.
