Deadly Attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries HQ Leaves 5 Dead, 22 Injured

Ankara, Turkey — A deadly attack unfolded on Wednesday at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuring 22 others. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and an explosion as two armed assailants stormed the facility.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that both attackers were neutralized during the incident. “Sadly, we have five martyrs and 22 wounded in the attack. Three of the injured were already discharged from the hospital, and 19 are still under treatment,” Yerlikaya stated. He noted that two of the injured are in critical condition.

Footage broadcast on local television showed the assailants entering the TUSAS building armed, causing panic among employees and prompting a swift response from security forces.

Authorities have indicated that the attackers are highly likely members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). “The style of the act shows that it is highly likely the PKK carried out the attack. Once identification is completed and other evidence becomes clearer, we will share more concrete information with you,” Yerlikaya added.

The PKK has been involved in an ongoing conflict with the Turkish government for several decades, seeking autonomy in the predominantly Kurdish southeastern region of Turkey.

The attack on TUSAS, a key player in Turkey’s aerospace and defense industry, has raised concerns about security measures at critical infrastructure facilities. Investigations are underway to determine how the attackers breached security and to prevent future incidents.

Local authorities have heightened security measures across the capital, and the public is urged to remain vigilant. The government has condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
