President Xi Jinping Departs for 16th BRICS Summit in Russia

Chinese President Xi Jinping departed Beijing on Tuesday for the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The summit brings together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss cooperation and strategies for global economic development.

Accompanying President Xi are Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and foreign minister.

The delegation’s participation underscores China’s commitment to strengthening ties within the BRICS framework and promoting multilateral collaboration on key international issues.

During the summit, the leaders are expected to engage in discussions on enhancing economic partnerships, addressing global challenges, and exploring new avenues for cooperation among the member nations.

The BRICS Summit serves as a significant platform for emerging economies to voice their perspectives on global affairs and contribute to shaping an inclusive and sustainable future.
