Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the country's state-level economic and technological development zones to ignite innovation and promote high-standard opening up, aiming to drive in-depth reform and high-quality development.
In a recent instruction, President Xi emphasized the significant contributions these development zones have made over the past 40 years. He highlighted their role in establishing new systems for a higher-level open economy, advancing coordinated regional development, and fostering high-quality growth.
Focusing on Chinese modernization, Xi urged the zones to continuously stimulate innovation vitality and endogenous momentum. He called for efforts to actively participate in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expand international partnerships, and innovate investment promotion methods to build "Invest in China" into a global brand.
The President also stressed the importance of strengthening the industrial foundation of advanced manufacturing. He advocated for the promotion of high-end, green, and digital industries, the creation of digital and future industries, and the development of new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions.
The directives were conveyed during a symposium held in Tianjin on Sunday, marking the 40th anniversary of the state's economic and technological development zones. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng delivered a speech at the event, relaying President Xi's instructions to attendees.
The symposium gathered leaders and representatives from various development zones, highlighting the strategic importance of these zones in China's ongoing economic reforms and opening-up policies.
