Hu Mingxuan Scores 40 as Guangdong Edges Qingdao 118-113 in CBA Thriller

In a thrilling CBA matchup on Friday, the Guangdong Southern Tigers snapped their early-season slump with a narrow 118-113 victory over the high-flying Qingdao Eagles on the road. Hu Mingxuan was the standout performer, pouring in a game-high 40 points to lead Guangdong to their first win of the season.

Both teams traded leads throughout the game, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The tension peaked in the fourth quarter when Wang Shaojie of Qingdao committed his sixth foul on Yang Hansan, resulting in his ejection. Guangdong’s coach Du Feng also received a technical foul amid the heated exchanges.

With the game hanging in the balance and only a one-point difference in the final three minutes, Guangdong managed to pull ahead, capitalizing on Qingdao’s mistakes. Despite a valiant effort, Qingdao fell short, missing the chance to secure their third consecutive win.

Quinndary Weatherspoon led Qingdao with an impressive 30 points. Teammate Yang Hansan notched a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Myles Powell contributed a near triple-double with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 13 assists.

The loss leaves Qingdao behind in the early standings, with only five teams remaining undefeated after three games: the Beijing Ducks, Xinjiang Flying Tigers, Zhejiang Lions, Shanxi Loongs, and Liaoning Flying Leopards.

In other Friday games, the Jilin Northeast Tigers defeated the Fujian Sturgeons 124-109, the Shenzhen Leopards cruised past the Jiangsu Dragons 121-100, and the Shanghai Sharks narrowly lost to the Tianjin Pioneers 112-110.
