President Xi Jinping Calls for National Resource Recycling Platform

In a recent directive, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the critical importance of establishing a national platform dedicated to recycling and reusing resources. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing China’s commitment to a green, low-carbon, and circular economy, propelling the nation towards comprehensive ecological advancement.

President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted that the founding of this resource recycling company is a strategic decision by the CPC Central Committee. He underscored the necessity for the company to fully implement a comprehensive resource conservation strategy, transform waste into wealth through enhanced recycling efforts, and adopt an innovation-driven and open cooperation approach to streamline resource-recycling chains.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, echoed President Xi’s sentiments. In his instruction, he called for efforts to establish a multi-layered and efficient system for recycling and reusing resources. This includes initiating a new wave of large-scale equipment upgrades and consumer goods trade-ins, aiming to develop a world-class industrial group specialized in resource recycling and reuse.

The inaugural meeting of the company was held on Friday in Tianjin Municipality, north China. Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the gathering. He urged the company to bolster innovation in technology, management, and business models, leading the high-quality development of the country’s resource recycling and reusing industry.

Chen Min’er, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, attended the meeting, signaling strong support from the highest levels of the government.
