Nicaragua announced on Friday that it is breaking off diplomatic relations with Israel, expressing solidarity with Palestine and adherence to international law and conventions.
In an official statement, the Central American nation condemned what it described as “genocide, atrocities, and extreme hatred” perpetrated by the “fascist and war criminal government of Israel” against the Palestinian people.
“Nicaragua stands firmly with the Palestinian people in their struggle for justice and peace,” the statement read. “We demand that Israel comply with all relevant United Nations resolutions and support the establishment of a free, sovereign, independent, and self-determined Palestinian state.”
