At least four people have been confirmed dead after two tornadoes, spawned by Hurricane Milton, struck Florida’s east coast, local authorities reported on Thursday.
In an official statement, St. Lucie County officials confirmed “four fatalities as a result of these tornadoes.”
Hurricane Milton made landfall along Florida’s west-central coast on Wednesday night as a Category 3 storm. The powerful hurricane left over 3.3 million customers without power across the state as of early Thursday, according to PowerOutage.us, a website that tracks and records power outages nationwide.
The devastating impact of the storm has prompted emergency services to mobilize resources for rescue and recovery efforts. Residents are urged to stay indoors and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
