DPRK Conducts Test-Fire of 240 mm-Caliber Rocket Launcher Shells

The Academy of Defence Sciences of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) successfully conducted a test-fire of 240 mm-caliber controllable multiple rocket launcher shells on Tuesday, according to a report by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Wednesday.

The test aimed to reconfirm the hit accuracy of the rocket launcher shells at a maximum range of 67 kilometers while assessing the reliability of the automatic firing system, the KCNA reported.

This successful test-fire underscores the DPRK’s continued efforts to advance its military capabilities. The 240 mm-caliber multiple rocket launcher is a significant component of the nation’s artillery forces, capable of delivering powerful strikes over considerable distances.

Analysts note that such developments highlight the DPRK’s focus on enhancing its defense technology amid ongoing regional tensions. The verification of the rocket launcher’s performance may have implications for the strategic balance in the region, prompting attention from neighboring countries and international observers.

The KCNA emphasized the importance of bolstering defense preparedness, stating that advancements in military technology are crucial for safeguarding national sovereignty.
