At a recent forum on digital innovation, Macro Silvestri, deputy head of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), emphasized the importance of collaboration among Asia-Pacific countries to overcome agricultural challenges.
“Asia-Pacific countries can learn from each other and work together to overcome agriculture challenges,” Silvestri said, highlighting the potential of regional cooperation in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability.
He pointed out that digital innovation plays a crucial role in modernizing agriculture, improving efficiency, and ensuring food security. By sharing knowledge and technology, countries in the region can address issues such as climate change, resource scarcity, and population growth.
“Digital tools and mechanization are key to sustainable agriculture,” he added. “By embracing innovation, we can boost productivity, reduce environmental impact, and improve the livelihoods of farmers.”
