China Successfully Ignites First Domestically Produced F-Class Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine

China marked a significant milestone in its energy sector on Monday as the nation’s first domestically produced 300-megawatt F-class heavy-duty gas turbine successfully completed its ignition test in Shanghai. This achievement signifies a major advancement in China’s gas turbine technology and the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.

Known as the “crown jewel” of the equipment manufacturing industry, the heavy-duty gas turbine operates under extreme conditions of high temperature, high stress, and high corrosion. It serves as the core equipment for power plants, capable of long-term operation and essential for efficient energy production.

The 300-megawatt F-class heavy-duty gas turbine comprises five major systems and over 50,000 components. As the first of its kind developed in China with the highest power output and technical grade, it demonstrates the country’s growing capabilities in designing and manufacturing advanced energy equipment.

Developed by China United Heavy Gas Turbine Technology, the turbine’s technical specifications are competitive with leading international counterparts. Its successful ignition transitions the project into a comprehensive testing and validation phase, paving the way for future operational evaluations and performance assessments.

This breakthrough not only enhances China’s energy production capabilities but also strengthens its position in the global high-end equipment manufacturing sector. The turbine is expected to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and supporting sustainable energy initiatives across the country.
