China Celebrates 75th Anniversary, Emphasizes People-Centered Modernization

As China marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), a grand reception was held in Beijing to commemorate this significant milestone. Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech, highlighting the nation’s commitment to building a strong country and achieving national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.

President Xi emphasized that the best way to celebrate the anniversary is to carry forward the unprecedented great cause of modernization on all fronts. He outlined key principles essential for advancing Chinese modernization, including:

  • Upholding the core role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in providing overall leadership and coordinating efforts across all sectors.
  • Unswervingly following the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
  • Deepening reform and expanding opening up to the world.
  • Upholding a people-centered approach.
  • Remaining committed to peaceful development.

People-Centered Development Approach

One of the core principles emphasized by President Xi is the adherence to a people-centered development philosophy. This approach is fundamental to China’s governance, ensuring that development serves the people, depends on the people, and its benefits are shared by the people.

Throughout its history, the CPC has fostered close ties with the populace, making the well-being of the people its central mission. By prioritizing the interests of the people and sharing in their hardships, the Party has led China through remarkable economic growth and social stability.

In recent years, the CPC has continued to stress that “satisfying the people’s aspirations for a better life is the goal of all the Party’s work.” This philosophy has guided China in tackling significant challenges, such as poverty eradication.

In 2021, China declared a “complete victory” in its battle against poverty, eliminating absolute poverty a decade ahead of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This achievement, benefiting nearly one-fifth of the world’s population, underscores the effectiveness of China’s people-centered approach.

Commitment to Peaceful Development

President Xi also reaffirmed China’s dedication to the noble cause of peace and the development of humanity. He stated that China will vigorously advocate for “peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit,” and promote global tranquility and progress.

Over the past 75 years, China has transformed from a struggling agrarian nation into the world’s second-largest economy and leading manufacturing powerhouse. With 1.4 billion people forging ahead on the path to modernization, China represents a formidable force driving global progress.

China’s rise in national strength and its contributions to global development reflect its commitment to peaceful development and mutual prosperity. As the nation continues to advance, it remains devoted to working collaboratively with the international community to address shared challenges and create a better future for all.
