China’s Wang Yi Calls for Enhanced Cooperation with Nepal to Benefit Both Nations

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for stronger collaboration between China and Nepal to foster mutual prosperity. Meeting with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Wang Yi emphasized the importance of the Belt and Road cooperation yielding tangible benefits for the people of both countries.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, reiterated China’s commitment to placing Nepal in a significant position within its neighborhood diplomacy. He expressed China’s dedication to building a closer China-Nepal community with a shared future.

“China has always supported Nepal in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity,” Wang Yi stated. He expressed hope that Nepal would continue to find a development path suited to its national conditions.

Wang Yi appreciated Nepal’s reaffirmation that it will not allow any force to use Nepali territory to engage in anti-China activities. He highlighted China’s readiness to plan a series of activities with Nepal to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Oli, for his part, affirmed the strong support for Nepal-China friendship across the Nepali government, all political parties, and the populace. He firmly reiterated Nepal’s adherence to the one-China policy and assured that Nepal would not permit anyone or any force to use its territory for activities against China.

“Nepal is committed to strengthening cooperation with China and jointly building a Nepal-China community with a shared future,” Oli said.
