In a significant move to bolster international relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil Pinto on Monday in New York. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to consolidate and develop their all-weather friendship.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the strong partnership between China and Venezuela. “China will, as always, support Venezuela in safeguarding its national sovereignty and dignity and assist Venezuela’s economic and social development,” Wang stated, highlighting the longstanding ties between the two countries.
The discussion also revisited Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s state visit to China last September. Wang recalled that during the visit, the two heads of state announced the elevation of bilateral ties to an all-weather strategic partnership. “This marks a milestone in the history of China-Venezuela relations and heralds a broader prospect for our bilateral relations,” he noted.
Both ministers agreed on the importance of upholding mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns. Wang Yi called for translating the important consensus reached by the two heads of state into practical actions to continue promoting bilateral ties.
Yvan Gil Pinto echoed these sentiments, affirming Venezuela’s commitment to the partnership. “Venezuela is China’s most reliable and staunch strategic partner,” he said. He expressed a desire to promote continuous greater development of Venezuela-China relations to better benefit the peoples of both nations.
The meeting between the two foreign ministers signifies a strengthening of diplomatic relations, with both sides looking forward to enhanced cooperation in various fields. As China and Venezuela deepen their all-weather friendship, this collaboration is expected to contribute positively to the political, economic, and social landscapes of both countries.
