Xi Jinping Highlights Vision for China’s Lunar Exploration in Meeting with Chang’e-6 Team

On September 23, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with representatives of space scientists and engineers who played pivotal roles in the research and development of the Chang’e-6 lunar mission. The meeting underscored China’s unwavering commitment to advancing its lunar exploration program and achieving its ambitious space dreams.

“The pursuit of lunar exploration is a journey of national rejuvenation,” President Xi emphasized during the meeting. “Our scientists and engineers have demonstrated exceptional innovation and dedication, propelling China into a new era of space exploration.”

President Xi highlighted the success of previous Chang’e missions, noting how each milestone has contributed to a deeper understanding of the moon and beyond. “With Chang’e-6, we aim to reach new frontiers, gather invaluable scientific data, and inspire future generations to pursue the wonders of space,” he said.

He also spoke about the importance of international cooperation in space endeavors. “Space exploration should be a bridge that connects nations for peaceful and mutual development,” President Xi stated. “China is open to collaborating with global partners to advance scientific knowledge and benefit all of humanity.”

The Chang’e-6 mission, scheduled to further lunar research, represents a significant step in China’s long-term space strategy. It follows the successful Chang’e-5 mission, which brought lunar samples back to Earth, marking China’s first sample-return mission.

During the meeting, President Xi encouraged the Chang’e-6 team to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation. “Your efforts not only reflect our nation’s scientific prowess but also embody the spirit of exploration that drives human progress,” he asserted.

As China continues to invest in its space programs, including plans for a lunar research station and potential crewed missions to the moon, President Xi’s remarks reinforce the nation’s commitment to becoming a leading space-faring country.

The meeting concluded with President Xi expressing his gratitude to the scientists and engineers. “Your dedication is a source of pride for our country. Let us work together to reach for the stars and turn our space dreams into reality,” he concluded.
