The BRICS Seminar on Governance and Cultural Exchanges Forum 2024 convened on Monday in Moscow, bringing together over 120 representatives from BRICS nations and international organizations to focus on the modernization paths of emerging economies.
Attendees underscored the pivotal role of BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—in shaping the international order and steering the future of human society. They emphasized the importance of each nation’s autonomous choice in development paths, not only for their own growth but also for contributing significantly to global governance.
Participants advocated for resisting any form of development coercion and firmly defending the right to development. They encouraged other developing nations to explore independent paths suited to their unique national conditions.
The forum highlighted the need for enhanced communication around innovation-driven development. Attendees called for joint efforts to boost international competitiveness through technological and institutional innovation, aiming to improve the quality of life for citizens and guide the stable, long-term development of the Global South.
China’s modernization achievements received high praise, viewed as a valuable reference and source of inspiration for other developing countries seeking their own modernization pathways.
In addition to discussions, the forum featured a photo exhibition on the BRICS spirit and released a survey on BRICS cooperation, further promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The event was co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, China International Communications Group, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and the Russia-China Friendship Association.
