The inaugural Beijing stop of the Village Super League (VSL) Belt and Road Invitational concluded with vibrant celebrations at the Fengtai Sports Center. Over two days, grassroots football and cultural diversity took center stage, delighting a festive crowd in the Chinese capital.

The event wrapped up with a closing ceremony that highlighted the richness of ethnic minority cultures through performances during the breaks. The festival not only showcased football talent from across the region but also underscored the unity and diversity that are the hallmarks of the VSL.

Saturday’s matches kicked off with Shandong’s Zibo Fenghuo defeating Hebei’s Xianghe United 4-2. In the following game, Guizhou’s Rongjiang Luohanguo delivered a commanding 6-2 victory over the home team, Wuli Xinfeng. These victories set the stage for an exciting final on Sunday.

In a tightly contested final match, Rongjiang Luohanguo edged out Zibo Fenghuo with a 1-0 victory, claiming the title in the first-ever Beijing edition of the VSL Belt and Road Invitational.

“Beijing is the first stop of the VSL’s Belt and Road Tour,” said VSL Communications Director Ouyang Zhangwei. “In the future, we will visit more cities, spreading the joy of the VSL and sharing our outstanding traditional Chinese culture further through this event.”

The successful Beijing stop marks a significant milestone for the Village Super League as it continues to promote grassroots football and cultural exchange across China and beyond.
