China Successfully Launches Four Satellites for Tianqi IoT Constellation

China has successfully launched four new satellites for its Tianqi constellation, marking a significant advancement in its global Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities.

The satellites, named Tianqi 29 to 32, were sent into orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province at 5:43 p.m. on Friday. The launch was carried out using a Kuaizhou-1A (KZ-1A) carrier rocket, known for its high precision, short preparation period, and cost-effectiveness.

Part of the Tianqi low-Earth orbit IoT constellation, this latest group of satellites aims to provide comprehensive global data services. Applications range from natural environment monitoring and emergency communications to intelligent tourism, contributing to the technological advancement of China’s IoT information industry.

The KZ-1A rocket is a small solid-fuel launch vehicle primarily used for deploying low-orbit small satellites. This launch marks the 33rd mission for the KZ series rockets and the 27th for the KZ-1A model, showcasing the reliability and efficiency of China’s satellite launch technology.
