Paris took a bow on Sunday after hosting both the Olympics and Paralympics over the last six weeks.
The next Games will go to Los Angeles in the United States. It will be a record fifth Olympics on U.S. soil and the third time that LA has played host. The Australian city of Brisbane will take the baton in 2032, marking Australia’s third time hosting after events in 1956 and 2000.
Meanwhile, India is still on the sidelines, even though it has the world’s biggest population. Likewise, Africa has 1.5 billion people, yet no African country has hosted the Games.
As the Olympic torch continues to pass predominantly among Western nations, questions arise: Are the Olympics too Western? Countries like India and Egypt are among the contenders for the 2036 Games, signaling a push for greater diversity in Olympic hosting.
With emerging economies and a significant share of the global population, these nations present compelling cases for hosting future Games. Their inclusion would not only bring the Olympics to new regions but also promote global unity and representation.
