The 2024 China Internet Civilization Conference opened on Wednesday in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The two-day event aims to promote the spirit of the times and jointly advance civility in cyberspace.
Bringing together delegates from central and local authorities, major news portals, heads of online social organizations, internet businesses, scholars, and internet celebrities, the conference serves as a platform for collaboration and dialogue on fostering a positive digital culture.
Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of cyberspace civility in the era of rapidly developing information technology.
Delegates highlighted that advancing civility in cyberspace is vital for adapting to new technological trends and is an essential part of building a strong socialist culture and a robust cyber nation. They called for further efforts to advocate socialism, augment positive energy online, continuously build a healthy internet culture, and strengthen cyberspace governance.
The conference is jointly organized by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, and Sichuan provincial authorities.
