Typhoon Jongdari Poised to Bring Gales to Eastern China

China’s National Meteorological Center issued a warning on Monday morning as Typhoon Jongdari, the ninth typhoon of the year, emerged over the northwest Pacific Ocean. The typhoon is expected to bring strong winds to the eastern regions of the Chinese mainland.

At 5 a.m. on Monday, the center of Jongdari was located in the waters 435 kilometers east of Taipei City, in the Taiwan region, with maximum wind forces near the center reaching 18 meters per second, according to the center.

Moving northward at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, Jongdari is forecasted to enter the East China Sea, maintaining its intensity before gradually weakening after entering the Yellow Sea.

From 8 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday, the typhoon is expected to bring gales to the waters east of Taiwan, the Taiwan Strait, the East China Sea, and along the coasts of Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, the meteorological center reported.

Residents and maritime operators in these areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the typhoon approaches.
