Xi’s Special Envoy Attends Dominican Republic President’s Inauguration

SANTO DOMINGO—At the invitation of Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Special Envoy and Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Jin Zhuanglong, attended Abinader’s second-term inauguration ceremony on Friday.

The two leaders met at the National Palace on Thursday, where Jin conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi to President Abinader, congratulating him on his re-election.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries six years ago, our bilateral ties have achieved comprehensive and rapid development,” Jin remarked. “China is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to continue to firmly support each other, enhance practical cooperation, promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and push our relationship to new heights for the benefit of both our peoples.”

Jin also elaborated on the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee to President Abinader, emphasizing China’s commitment to mutual growth and collaboration.

President Abinader expressed his sincere gratitude to President Xi for sending a special envoy to attend the inauguration ceremony. “Developing relations with China holds special importance for the Dominican Republic,” Abinader stated. “I look forward to further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and pushing for greater development of our bilateral relations.”

The meeting underscored the growing partnership between China and the Dominican Republic, highlighting shared goals in economic development, technological innovation, and cultural exchange.
