Rome, Italy — Italy is bracing for record-high temperatures this week as the nation enters the hottest phase of its summer. Meteorological data site Il Meteo reported on Tuesday that the coming days will be the “most torrid of the summer,” with temperatures expected to reach up to 43 degrees Celsius in the southernmost regions.
The heatwave, fueled by hot air masses from Africa, is set to impact the entire country. Even northern areas, typically cooler, are forecasted to experience temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
“After a brief respite last weekend, the African weather currents are back and stronger than ever, ready to unleash high temperatures across the entire country,” Il Meteo stated.
The extreme heat poses challenges not only to residents but also to industries such as agriculture and tourism. Authorities are urging people to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, stay hydrated, and avoid outdoor activities during peak hours.
Italy’s heatwave reflects a broader pattern of extreme weather events affecting various parts of the world, highlighting concerns about climate change and its impact on global weather patterns.
