Flash Flood and Mudslide in Southwest China Claim 8 Lives; 19 Missing

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a sudden flash flood and mudslide devastated the city of Kangding in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, resulting in eight fatalities and leaving 19 people missing as of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, according to local authorities.

The disaster struck at approximately 3:30 a.m. in Kangding, located within the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze. The force of the floodwaters toppled a tunnel bridge and destroyed homes in Ridi village, causing widespread destruction and upheaval for the local community.
