Arab League and China Media Group Forge New Collaborative Partnership

The Arab League and China Media Group (CMG) have signed a landmark memorandum of understanding on cooperation, paving the way for enhanced collaboration across various fields. The agreement, signed on Tuesday, encompasses the establishment, exchange, and digitization of documentary archives, joint content production, media technology innovation, and personnel exchanges.

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, the two entities plan to produce a documentary that will highlight significant historical moments, showcase past achievements, and explore future development prospects of the forum. The documentary is slated to premiere at the second China-Arab Summit in 2026, symbolizing a new chapter in China-Arab relations.

Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, engaged in in-depth discussions with the Arab League’s Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The talks focused on strengthening cultural, sports, and media cooperation, as well as increasing personnel exchanges. The meeting was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang.

Gheit warmly welcomed Shen and his delegation, praising the extensive cooperation between China and Arab countries. He expressed confidence that China’s comprehensive reforms would inject new vitality into global development. He also commended CMG’s advancements in media technologies such as ultra-high-definition broadcasting, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, and lauded the objective and fair reporting by China Global Television Network (CGTN).

The signing of the memorandum signifies a deepening of ties between the Arab League and CMG, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding and promoting cultural exchange. As both parties embark on this collaborative journey, they aim to contribute significantly to the media landscape and strengthen the bridge between China and the Arab world.
