CMG and Madrid to Enhance Sports Ties Ahead of 2030 World Cup

China Media Group (CMG) and the city of Madrid are set to enhance their sports collaboration ahead of the 2030 World Cup, fostering stronger ties between China and Spain.

During a meeting at Madrid City Hall on Monday, Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, met with José Luis Martínez-Almeida Navasqüés, the Mayor of Madrid. Shen highlighted Madrid’s status as a world-renowned city of culture and tourism, emphasizing its role as an important window into Sino-Western exchanges.

“Madrid stands as a beacon of cultural richness and a bridge connecting East and West,” said Shen Haixiong. “We look forward to deepening our cooperation in sports and media, especially as we approach the 2030 World Cup.”

Mayor Martínez-Almeida welcomed the opportunity to strengthen ties with CMG. “Madrid values its relationship with China and is eager to collaborate on initiatives that promote cultural and sporting exchanges,” he stated.
