Olympic Flame Illuminates Pyrenees National Park and Wuyi Mountain’s Natural Wonders

The Olympic flame is more than just a symbol of athletic prowess; it also serves as a beacon that highlights the cultural and natural wonders of our world.

Recently, the flame shone brightly on both the Pyrenees National Park and Wuyi Mountain, underscoring the global significance of these natural treasures.

Nestled along the border of France and Spain, the Pyrenees National Park has been a sanctuary for wildlife and flora since it was established in 1967. The park is home to endangered species like the bearded vulture, Pyrenean desman, Pyrenean chamois, and capercaillie.

In 1997, the eastern section of the park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List—the Pyrénées–Mont Perdu Site—creating a showcase for its important natural beauty and biodiversity.
