China’s Second Homegrown Cruise Ship Chooses Guangzhou as Home Port

China’s maritime industry is setting sail on another milestone as the nation’s second homegrown large cruise ship selects Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port in south China’s Guangdong Province as its home port. The announcement was made by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited on Tuesday.

The operator of the cruise ship, Adora Cruises, has signed a cooperation agreement with the port authorities. This partnership aims to jointly promote Guangzhou’s cruise industry and tap into the burgeoning market of south China.

“The Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port boasts a 770-meter shoreline. Among China’s domestic cruise home ports, it stands out with the most port inspection channels, offering the largest coverage and best conditions for passengers in its waiting hall,” said Hua Chi, Manager of the General Office at Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port.

Adora Cruises plans to finalize the ship’s cruise routes soon, providing travelers with enriched options. “After the second large cruise ship settles in Guangzhou, we will enhance our products to showcase the culture of the Lingnan area and highlight Guangzhou’s uniqueness. The ship will feature more space and improved facilities. It will primarily operate on routes to South Asia and Southeast Asia, complementing the Adora Magic City cruise ship,” said Yang Guobing, Chairman of Adora Cruises at CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd.

Currently, the second homegrown large cruise ship is undergoing final assembly and is expected to be delivered by the end of 2026. It will commence international operations in 2027.
