Chinese Envoy Urges Two-State Solution at UN Amid Gaza Crisis

Fu Cong, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, called for the implementation of the two-state solution as the only viable method to resolve the Middle East conflict during an open debate at the UN Security Council on Wednesday.

“The two-state solution is the only viable way to resolve the Middle East question,” Fu emphasized, urging immediate international action to address the ongoing crisis between Israel and Palestine.

He highlighted the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that continuous conflict has led to over 38,000 civilian deaths and an unrelenting humanitarian disaster. “The international community must pool all its efforts to promote a ceasefire in order to save lives and alleviate the ongoing disaster without delay,” Fu stated.

Fu condemned the ongoing military operations and the collective punishment inflicted upon the people of Gaza, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities. He stressed that indiscriminate use of force and harm to civilians must end.

The Chinese envoy appealed to all parties involved to engage in dialogue and negotiations, stressing the importance of diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability in the region. He reiterated China’s support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

“China stands ready to work with the international community to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution,” Fu added, highlighting China’s active role in promoting peace talks and humanitarian assistance.

The Security Council meeting comes amid heightened tensions and violence in the Middle East, with global leaders seeking ways to de-escalate the situation. Fu’s remarks reflect China’s consistent support for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and underscore the urgency of addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
