China Launches “Belt and Road Skills-Building-Dreams Action” to Boost Global Skills Cooperation

China has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative—the “Belt and Road Skills-Building-Dreams Action”—aimed at enhancing international skills cooperation among nations participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on Tuesday in Chongqing Municipality, the action plan focuses on promoting joint vocational standards, sharing training resources, cultivating skilled trainers, and achieving mutual recognition of training certificates. It seeks to empower economic and social development across BRI countries by establishing cooperative brands in vocational skills training.

During the launch ceremony, over 30 cooperation agreements were signed, marking a significant step towards deeper collaboration. Representatives from Laos, Romania, and China shared their experiences in skill cultivation cooperation, highlighting the mutual benefits and aspirations for future partnerships.

The ceremony also showcased an array of resources related to skill training. Promoted materials included the “China Occupational Classification Dictionary (2022 Edition)”, 12 Chinese national occupational standards, 15 basic vocational training packages, and 85 vocational training materials covering fields such as advanced manufacturing, modern services, and elderly care.

This initiative reflects China’s commitment to fostering global skill development and creating opportunities for shared growth. By building bridges through skills and education, the “Belt and Road Skills-Building-Dreams Action” aspires to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of people across Asia and beyond.
