Communist Party of China to Hold Reform-Focused Plenum July 15-18 in Beijing

The Communist Party of China (CPC) is set to convene the third plenary session of its 20th Central Committee from July 15 to July 18 in Beijing. This significant gathering will focus on comprehensively deepening reform and advancing Chinese modernization, as announced during a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Thursday.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over Thursday’s meeting. The Political Bureau decided to submit a draft decision on further deepening reforms and promoting modernization to the upcoming plenum for deliberation. This draft has been meticulously analyzed to address new situations and challenges in China’s modernization efforts, outlining strategic plans for advancing reforms.

Members of the Political Bureau were briefed on feedback regarding the draft, which was solicited from both within and outside the Party. The draft will be updated based on discussions at the plenum to ensure it reflects a wide range of insights and perspectives.

The meeting emphasized that the draft serves as a programmatic document guiding comprehensive reform on the new journey toward modernization. It highlights the resolve of the Party Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, to open up broad prospects for Chinese modernization through continued reform efforts.

Elaborating on the goals of further reform, the meeting underscored China’s aim to build a high-standard socialist market economy by 2035. By that time, the nation’s system and capacity for governance are expected to be basically modernized, marking significant milestones in achieving socialist modernization.
