Beijing, China — Team China has unveiled its official podium uniforms for the upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The grand reveal took place in Beijing on Tuesday, showcasing a harmonious blend of traditional Chinese elements and modern, eco-friendly materials.
The uniforms, sponsored by Chinese sportswear giant Anta, retain the iconic dragon motifs that have become synonymous with China’s Olympic attire since the 2012 London Games. Adorned in the national colors of white and red, the designs symbolize strength, luck, and prosperity.
In a stride towards sustainability, the outfits are crafted from recycled fibers and incorporate various eco-friendly materials, including recycled nylon and polyester. This initiative reflects China’s commitment to environmental responsibility and reducing carbon emissions on the global stage.
Multiple Chinese athletes graced the unveiling ceremony, including two-time Olympic men’s weightlifting gold medalist Shi Zhiyong. “It’s going to be my third Olympics, and I hope I can achieve outstanding results,” Shi expressed. “We have a strong team nicknamed the ‘King Squad,’ so I hope everyone will pay more attention to the Paris Games and the Chinese weightlifting team. I believe that multiple athletes will be wearing the dragon uniforms on the podium in Paris.”
Chinese boxer Li Qian also shared her enthusiasm, noting the cultural significance of the upcoming year. “2024 happens to be the Year of the Dragon, so I think it’s an auspicious sign,” Li remarked. “I hope to wear this uniform on the top of the podium at the Paris Games.”
The continued use of the dragon theme not only honors China’s rich heritage but also inspires athletes and fans alike as they look forward to the Paris Olympics. With a blend of tradition and innovation, Team China aims to make a powerful statement both in style and performance.
