China and Poland’s First Ladies Unite at Beijing’s National Arts Center

On a cultural exchange symbolizing growing ties between China and Poland, Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, welcomed Agata Kornhauser-Duda, wife of Polish President Andrzej Duda, to Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on Monday.

Accompanying the Polish president on his state visit to China, Agata Kornhauser-Duda joined Peng Liyuan in a tour of the NCPA’s impressive facilities. The two first ladies explored an art exhibition showcasing Beijing’s intangible cultural heritage, where they admired exquisite examples of Chinese craftsmanship.

Peng Liyuan emphasized the deep historical and cultural connections between China and Poland, noting that both nations boast rich traditions. She highlighted that people-to-people and cultural exchanges have flourished in recent years, strengthening mutual understanding and friendship. “With enriched cultural exchanges, our mutual understanding and friendship will deepen,” Peng remarked.

The visit included captivating performances of traditional Chinese folk music, the timeless art of Peking Opera, and piano compositions from both countries. Agata Kornhauser-Duda praised the talents of the Chinese artists, expressing her admiration for China’s traditional culture. “Chinese traditional culture is wonderful and impressive,” she said, expressing her eagerness for more exchanges and cooperation between the two nations and enhanced friendship between their peoples.

The meeting of the first ladies underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy in international relations, fostering goodwill and opening new avenues for collaboration between China and Poland.
