China Opposes U.S. Sanctions on Chinese Firms Over ‘Russian Involvement’

Beijing, China — China has expressed strong opposition to the recent decision by the United States to impose sanctions on Chinese firms allegedly involved with Russia. On Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce spokesperson, He Yadong, stated at a press conference that the sanctions lack any basis in international law and have not been authorized by the United Nations Security Council.

“The unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States on Chinese companies are unjustified and have no legal standing,” He Yadong remarked. “China firmly opposes such actions that undermine the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.”

The U.S. government announced new sanctions aimed at entities it accuses of supporting Russia’s activities. The measures involve restricting access to U.S. markets and technology for the sanctioned firms. While specific companies were not mentioned by the Chinese spokesperson, the Ministry of Commerce emphasized that these actions disrupt normal economic and trade exchanges.

He Yadong called on the United States to immediately correct its mistakes and cease its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies. “We urge the U.S. side to adopt a rational and fair attitude, and work together with China to promote the stability of global supply chains,” he added.

The tension between China and the United States has escalated in recent years, with trade disputes and geopolitical frictions impacting international markets. Analysts are watching closely to see how these developments might affect global economic trends and the business environment in Asia.

This latest move by the U.S. adds to a series of sanctions and trade restrictions that have affected companies across various sectors. Businesses and investors are advised to stay informed about policy changes that could influence market dynamics in the region.
