China’s Quantum Computer Origin Wukong Attracts Over 10 Million Global Visits

China’s independently developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, Origin Wukong, has achieved a significant milestone by receiving over 10 million remote visits from around the globe. This accomplishment marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s advancement in quantum computing technology.

As of 9 a.m. on Monday, users from 124 countries and regions have remotely accessed the Origin Wukong system, completing nearly 236,000 quantum computing tasks worldwide, according to the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center.

Origin Wukong, powered by a 72-qubit indigenous superconducting quantum chip named Wukong, commenced operations on January 6 in Hefei, east China’s Anhui Province. It stands as one of the country’s most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computers.

Since becoming operational, Origin Wukong has been opened to global users for free for a limited time, processing quantum computing tasks from users worldwide. Notably, users from the United States, Canada, and Türkiye have been among the most active participants.

The name Wukong is inspired by Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, a central character in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Known for his ability to transform into 72 different forms, Sun Wukong symbolizes the computer’s powerful and versatile capabilities in the realm of quantum computing.

The widespread international engagement with Origin Wukong highlights China’s growing influence and contributions to the global quantum computing landscape. The accessibility of such advanced technology to users worldwide fosters collaboration and accelerates developments within the field.
