China’s GalaxySpace Trials First Overseas LEO Satellite Internet in Thailand

In a groundbreaking collaboration between China and Thailand, GalaxySpace, a private Chinese satellite manufacturer, has successfully conducted the first overseas trial of China’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite broadband internet in Thailand.

The trial, carried out in partnership with Mahanakorn University of Technology in Bangkok, marks a significant milestone in the international expansion of China’s LEO satellite internet capabilities. A ground test station established at the university enables continuous observation of millimeter-wave satellite signal communication under local weather conditions.

Dr. Supansa Keckley, Director of the Satellite Research Laboratory at Mahanakorn University of Technology, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “GalaxySpace brings advanced satellite internet technology that is innovative and exciting. We have jointly set up a test system and conducted a series of technical tests and trials, which strongly supports Thailand’s research into satellite internet applications,” he said. “More importantly, it further builds our capacity in the field of aerospace technology.”
