Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced on Friday that China’s ongoing economic upgrades will usher in new opportunities for global development. Speaking to representatives from the industrial and commercial sectors in Auckland during his official visit to New Zealand, Li emphasized the mutual benefits of China’s modernization efforts.
“China is pursuing modernization through high-quality development,” Li stated. “These upgrades will not only enhance China’s economic structure but also bring new opportunities for countries worldwide.”
Consumption Upgrades Unleash Market Demands
Li highlighted that China’s consumption patterns are evolving, leading to increased demand for high-quality goods. “There is a growing need for premium products such as dairy, health supplements, beef, and lamb from New Zealand,” he noted, signaling potential growth in exports for New Zealand producers.
Industrial Upgrades Open New Cooperation Areas
The Chinese premier underscored the significance of industrial advancement in opening new avenues for collaboration. “Emerging industries like new energy, information technology, and biomedicine present substantial business opportunities,” he said, inviting international partners to engage in these sectors.
Trade Upgrades Create Growth Space
Li pointed out that enhancements in trade will foster new growth areas. “The potential for cooperation in service trade and cross-border e-commerce is expanding rapidly,” he mentioned, suggesting that both nations could benefit from these evolving markets.
Invitation to New Zealand Entrepreneurs
Urging New Zealand’s business community to seize these opportunities, Li said, “I hope New Zealand entrepreneurs will make the most of the momentum and achieve greater results.” He assured that China remains open to enterprises from New Zealand and other countries.
China’s Commitment to an Open Market
Li affirmed China’s dedication to creating a favorable business environment. “We will further expand market access and establish a first-class, market-oriented, and internationalized business environment based on the rule of law,” he promised. “Foreign-funded enterprises will receive more support and facilitation to invest and operate in China.”
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The premier expressed his hope that more New Zealand entrepreneurs would follow in the footsteps of Rewi Alley, a New Zealander who spent six decades contributing to China until his passing in Beijing in 1987. “I hope you will enhance mutual understanding between our peoples and contribute to the sound development of China-New Zealand relations,” Li said.
