In a significant move towards bolstering national energy security, a new compilation of Xi Jinping’s discourses on the subject has been published by the Central Party Literature Press. The book, meticulously compiled by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, brings together 217 passages across eight categories from over 130 of Xi’s important speeches and writings between November 2012 and May 2023. Notably, some of these insightful passages are being made public for the first time.

Since assuming leadership in 2012, Xi Jinping has placed great emphasis on energy security as a cornerstone of China’s development. Under his guidance, the CPC Central Committee has accelerated the establishment of a new energy system, focusing on innovation and sustainability. This strategic approach has not only consolidated China’s energy foundation but has also provided robust support for the nation’s economic and social advancement.

The discourses delve into critical aspects such as the development of new energy sources, technological innovation, and international cooperation in energy. Xi’s vision aims to propel the energy revolution, strengthen China’s energy capabilities, and ensure a safe and reliable energy supply—a vital component in the nation’s pursuit of modernization.

The publication of this compilation is expected to offer valuable insights for business professionals, policymakers, academics, and international observers.
