Yemenis Rally in Sanaa Protesting Airstrikes and Express Solidarity with Palestinians

Thousands of Yemeni residents filled the streets of Sanaa on October 15, protesting against recent airstrikes and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. The demonstration came hours after airstrikes struck multiple locations within the city, heightening tensions in the region.

Local media outlet Al-Masirah TV reported that several airstrikes targeted key areas in Sanaa. According to their reports, three strikes hit the al-Nahdayn mountain in the city’s center, one strike occurred near Sanaa International Airport in the north, and two additional strikes impacted the Jarban area in the Sanhan district to the south. Further airstrikes were reported in the Houthi-held Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.

The protesters voiced strong opposition to foreign intervention in Yemen and stood in support of Palestinians amid ongoing regional conflicts. A CGTN correspondent on the ground spoke with participants in the demonstration. One protester stated, “We will never accept any form of hegemonic intervention in Yemen.”

The recent airstrikes and ensuing protests underscore the escalating tensions in Yemen, a nation that has been embroiled in conflict for several years. The demonstrations reflect widespread public sentiment against foreign military actions and highlight the broader regional implications of the conflict.

Yemen’s ongoing civil war has led to a significant humanitarian crisis, drawing international concern and calls for peaceful resolutions. The situation remains complex, with various local and international actors involved in the conflict.
